The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic Lay organisation inspired by the Gospels of Jesus Christ. Vincentians work in a caring and practical manner to promote human dignity and justice through personal contact with those in need, whether they are Catholic or not.
The St Teresa’s SVdP Conference consists of a number of parishioners able to visit the sick or home-bound, provide practical assistance such as food and transport where need exists and generally respond to needs of children and families in our parish perimeter. Persons in need of assistance should ring the SVdP Christchurch Regional Office – (03) 389 7484 – in the first instance.
The St Teresa’s Conference welcomes members to assist with this work. The Conference meets at 7.00pm on the first Monday of each month, in the Parish Hall. If you want to help, simply attend a meeting or provide the Parish Secretary with your contact details.
The work of the Conference is entirely dependant on donations. SVdP financial donation envelopes are available in the Church porch. Place these either in the cylindrical safety deposit box in the porch, or in the Sunday collection basket. Donations qualify for a tax rebate and receipts are sent when requested. Donations of non-perishable food and household items may be placed in the basket at the back of the church near the main entry at any time.
